Did you know
The original Broadway production of "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller opened at the Morosco Theater on February 10, 1949, ran for 742 performances and won the 1949 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Play. Cameron Mitchell recreated his stage role in the movie version.
Even though Miller shows how the American dream turns individuals into commodities, whose sole worth is the money they make, his play does not have a radical agenda: Willy is not pitted against ruthless employers, and his failures are his own fault, rather than corporate-level injustices.
Arthur Miller provided two alternate versions of a physical insult in the play: If Willy Loman is played by a small man (like Dustin Hoffman) he is called a "shrimp," but if the actor is large, Willy Loman is called a "walrus.”

KidsTix is a new program launched in conjunction with FIM’s September Spectacular and the celebration of a new and expanded FIM. A gift to the KidsTix program opens up the door to the power of live performing arts for everyone.
American director and writer, Julie Taymor, known for her stage adaptation of The Lion King, says, “there is incredible power in the arts to inspire and influence.”
That’s a big part of FIM’s mission, to bring the performing arts to life in its exceptional venues, through its inspirational programs and across its community. Education programs and performances offer unique, valuable experiences for youth to engage with the arts and grow.
A donation to KidsTix will help cover the cost of tickets for economically challenged kids in the Flint area and their families. FIM supporters have already helped raise more than $5,000 for the program.
“Art should be accessible for everyone, regardless of income,” says FIM President & CEO Rodney Lontine. “We are incredibly thankful to our KidsTix donors. Our audiences know the importance of arts education and one of the best ways to educate and inspire anyone is to take them to a performance.”
Transform a kid’s life by making a gift to support KidsTix.
