AURORA, Colo. Dozens of teams from across Colorado and the country are preparing their gourd launching machines for the 18th annual Punkin Chunkin Colorado.

Punkin Chunkin Colorado is an annual ritual where chunk teams launch pumpkins nearly a mile to awe spectators. Teams this year include Big 10 Inch, the current Guinness World Records holder; Inertia II, the two-time World Championship Punkin Chunkin Champion; and Big Red, last year's Punkin Chunkin Colorado Champion.

Visitors to this family event can cheer for their favorite team of chunkers and find their favorite beer at one of the two beer tents. The Timberworks LumberJack Show is this year's featured entertainment group. These talented loggers will compete both days.

This is the 18th anniversary of this zany event, which engages the energy and ingenuity of youth and adults, while inspiring a fresh twist of creativity.

Craft beer fans will have a lot to cheer about at the Punkin Chunkin beer tents. Local Aurora breweries Dry Dock and Mu Brewery will be serving some of their most popular suds and some seasonal selections. And for those not in the mood for a beer, there will be a variety of yummy foods to sample from vendors.

Parking is free, and entry for those 12 and under is free as well. Adults and teens pay only $5 per day at the gate.
