FIAF's May CinéSalon series, Shining a Light: New French Documentaries, opens next week with the US premiere of Feminist Riposte. Directors Simon Depardon and Marie Perennès join us for an in-person Q&A following the 7:30pm screening.

Elise in Brest, Alexia in Saint-Etienne, Cécile in Compiègne, and Jill in Marseille are just four of thousands of young women denouncing sexist violence, public harassment, and macho aggression to which they are subjected on a daily basis. Using simple white paper and black paint, they are part of a movement to plaster the streets with messages denouncing misogyny and decrying femicide. Feminist Riposte shines a light on these feminist activists and their fight to make their voices heard.
