Join us for an exciting sixth edition of Animation First, the only US festival dedicated to showcasing the legacy and innovation of French animation!

The Festival Pass includes tickets to the entire three-day program including seven feature-length films and six short film programs. In addition, you receive priority entry to all filmmaker conversations, “Work in Progress” presentations, and video game, VR, and AR experiences.

Feature films include: Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre's Little Nicholas - Happy as can be; Guest of Honor Anca Damian's The Island; Alberto Vázquez's Unicorn Wars; Michel Ocelot's The Black Pharaoh, the Savage and the Princess; Pierre Földes' Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman; a restored version of René Laloux's  Gandahar; and Alain Ughetto's No Dogs or Italians Allowed.

FIAF presents Signature Sempé, a selection of French artist and cartoonist Jean-Jaques Sempé’s most iconic works. The exhibition will feature many rare drawings, including a selection of New Yorker covers and original illustrations of France’s beloved character, Le Petit Nicolas. The exhibition's opening reception on Fri, Jan 27, will kick off FIAF's Animation First festival.

Ranging from the classic to the contemporary, the fantastical to the brooding, there’s something for everyone in FIAF's upcoming CinéSalon series featuring eight French musical comedies.

Enjoy the enchanted Donkey Skin starring Catherine Deneuve; Chantal Akerman’s exuberant Golden Eighties, a musical that croons about feminism and consumerism; Christophe Honoré’s romantic Beloved, with an all-star cast including Louis Garrel; Same Old Song from renowned director Alain Resnais; Leos Carax’s rock opera Annette written by pop duo Sparks; Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau's Jeanne and the Perfect Guy that begins with an unexpected encounter on the metro; Jacques Rivette's Up, Down, Fragile set over a surprising summer in Paris; and the NY premiere of Serge Bozon's contemporary Don Juan.

On February 4, 1999, Amadou Diallo, a young Guinean, was shot and killed by four New York police officers in the Bronx. Plunging into the heart of the tragic case that shook America, France-based Guinean writer Hakim Bah, dancer and circus artist Juan Ignacio Tula, and guitarist and founding member of the band Moriarty Arthur B. Gillette have come together to confront police violence in a theatrical work of poetic fiction.
