The Gaithersburg Chorus is seeking a Choral Director to provide artistic direction and instruction on how to perform selected pieces for its annual spring and fall public performances. Responsibilities include selecting a varied repertoire, conducting rehearsals, choosing section leaders and soloists, overseeing an accompanist, and managing the artistic and musical affairs of the Chorus.

The City of Gaithersburg intends to fill this independent contractor position by August 23, 2022. Apply online with an application and letter of interest here. For more information, visit the Chorus webpage on the City’s website here or contact Marc Wright at [email protected].

The Gaithersburg Chorus is a non-audition ensemble class, open to those 16 years and older. At weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals, participants enjoy instruction on music theory, musicality and the mechanics of singing, including vocalization, voice control, proper breathing technique, and voice projection. The Chorus performs a variety of music, from classical to pop to Broadway and everything in between. Students looking for volunteer opportunities can earn SSL hours for participating in the Chorus.
