Gaithersburg Neighborhoods Participate in Annual National Night Out Against Crime

Gaithersburg, MD - Several Gaithersburg neighborhoods are joining communities across the country to participate in the National Night Out (NNO) Against Crime campaign.

On Tuesday, August 1, these neighborhoods will hold events to increase drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, encourage residents to be involved in their communities, and send a message that neighborhoods and businesses are organized to fight back against crime. The NNO programs help bring together residents, law enforcement agencies, local officials, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations.

Participating neighborhoods include:

 - Bennington (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.) Social event on the Parcel K - large grassy area bordered by Longdraft Road, Wade Court, Oak Shade, and East Darby Court. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies. Explore a police cruiser and learn about a wide variety of safety topics all while enjoying family fun activities for all ages including games, giveaways, and more.
 
 - Kentlands/Lakelands (6 – 8 p.m.) Family fun activities for all ages at the Clubhouse, 485 Tschiffely Square Road. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies.
 
 - Montgomery Meadows (5 – 8 p.m.) Social event at the pavilion at Travis Park, 391 Travis Avenue. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and learn about a wide variety of safety topics.
 
 - Saybrooke (5 – 7 p.m.) Social event at the pool on Saybrooke Oaks Boulevard. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and learn about a wide variety of safety topics.

Casey Community Center will also host NNO events from 6 to 8 p.m. at 810 South Frederick Avenue. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies. Explore police cruisers and learn about a wide variety of safety topics all while enjoying music, a cheer demonstration, and urban line dancing by a local deejay.

This year’s event includes a community resource fair with agencies that provide services ranging from health insurance, mental health services, energy assistance, and teenage girl empowerment programs, plus food assistance, financial services, family support, and more. Enjoy the kiddie water area, games, activities, face painting, music, line dancing, and free ice pops. Maria’s Kitchen food truck will be selling Mexican and Puerto Rican food.
