97th Anniversary of Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

GAITHERSBURG, MD -- Celebrate diverse and vibrant holiday traditions at Gaithersburg’s Jingle Jubilee. Enjoy an evening of music, dance, and song. This year marks the 97th anniversary of the tree lighting ceremony. The festivities take place at the City Hall Concert Pavilion in Olde Towne on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free. The outdoor venue features lawn seating with limited chairs.

Children and adults alike will delight in meeting Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Paw Patrol, and other characters. Be sure to bring your camera to capture memorable holiday photos. This year’s event features the new bike-powered holiday tree. Pedal a stationary bike and watch as the lights climb the tree to illuminate the star at the top. Plus, enjoy a beautifully decorated police car, write a letter to Santa, sing along to holiday songs with the Gaithersburg High School Symphonic Band, and enjoy exhibits of diverse decorations and traditions.

To keep things toasty at Jingle Jubilee, enjoy hot chocolate from the Gaithersburg Student Union and a warm treat from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. The evening will conclude with holiday wishes from the Mayor and City Council and the magnificent tree lighting ceremony that will now include Menorah and Kinara light displays.

Jingle Jubilee is sponsored in part by the Maryland State Arts Council.
