Glide - Add Your Light To Ours

Clubs and Organizations

December 19, 2022

From: Glide

????Dear Friends,

As the holiday season approaches, people of diverse faiths and backgrounds come together to celebrate joy, hope, and love. Some gather with family and food to light Hanukkah candles. Those celebrating Kwanzaa celebrate the Black diaspora by drumming and lighting candles on the Kinara. Others string Christmas lights to remember the Star of Bethlehem. Some serve.

Here at Glide Memorial Church, we celebrate this season of light with prayer, poetry, service, and a musical extravaganza. Come. Celebrate with us, but no matter how you choose to celebrate, we hope you surround yourself with the power of love, generosity, and sanctuary.

Glide Church has been a light of love and hope among the darkness for nearly 60 years, when Rev. Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani opened our doors to the LGBTQIA+ community, people experiencing poverty, homelessness, hunger, addiction — and anyone ready to move from vulnerable to resilient in our society.

Today, too many people are still weathering those storms alone. Please know that Glide Memorial Church is still a lighthouse and is here to welcome all people and provide the respite, healing, and sanctuary we all need. Together, we can lead each other into the light of a new day.

We invite you to join us as we come together to experience the illumination of unconditional love. Thank you for adding your light to ours, and we hope to see you soon.

As always, love always.
