Santa Fe, NM - Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham this week announced the appointment of Jodi McGinnis Porter as the new Deputy Director of Communications.

In this role, McGinnis Porter will work closely with Director of Communications Michael Coleman to spearhead long-term communications strategies and ensure alignment with the governor’s priorities.

“Jodi brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of effective communication strategies,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. “Her expertise will be invaluable as we continue to engage with the public and advance our administration’s goals.”

With over two decades of experience in communications and public relations, McGinnis Porter has held various leadership roles in state government, most recently serving as communications director for the New Mexico Department of Health. During her tenure, she developed and executed comprehensive communication strategies, navigated the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic, and served as the primary spokesperson for the department.

In addition to her role at the Department of Health, McGinnis Porter has held communication leadership positions at the New Mexico Human Services Department, the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, and the City of Santa Fe, among others. She is skilled in crisis communications, media relations, and digital strategy.

McGinnis Porter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Mason University and has volunteered with organizations such as the Santa Fe Kiwanis Club, the Adaptive Sports Program, and New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence.

McGinnis Porter’s appointment as deputy director of communications is effective immediately.
