(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced that he is nominating John Williams to fill the open seat on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). If confirmed by the Ohio Senate, Williams will replace Beth Trombold, who stepped down ahead of her term expiring this year.

"John Williams' experience will help ensure we maintain a competitive and reliable utility marketplace in Ohio," said Governor DeWine. "With industry and regulatory experience in energy, telecommunications, and transportation, and specific regulatory experience in safety, reliability, and customer service, I am confident John Williams will serve Ohio well as a PUCO Commissioner."

Williams began his career at PUCO in 2002 as a gas pipeline safety compliance investigator. Williams later served as Division Chief for Reliability and Service Analysis and Director of the Service Monitoring and Enforcement Department. Since 2018, he has served as Director of PUCO's Transportation Department. Prior to 2002, Williams worked in the telecommunications and natural gas industries.

Williams has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University.
