Government and Politics

August 16, 2022

From: New York Governor Kathy Hochul
On August 10, 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation to help ensure that New York State schools are properly educating students about the Holocaust. With antisemitism on the rise, Holocaust survivors passing away, and with all of the misinformation out there, it's never been more critical to teach the lessons from the Holocaust to as many students as possible."

This legislation ensures that students across New York are receiving a meaningful education on the Holocaust as required by existing State law. The bill passed the New York State Senate and Assembly with unanimous support in May of this year, and having now been signed into law, takes effect immediately.

HMTC remains deeply committed to bringing Holocaust and tolerance education to students across Long Island and beyond.
