Governor Polis Signs Bills into Law

DENVER - On April 11, Governor Polis signed the following bipartisan bills into law during a ceremony in the Governor's Office. 

SB24-148 - Precipitation Harvesting Storm Water Detention, sponsored by Representatives Barbara McLachlan and Brandi Bradley, and Senator Kevin Van Winkle.

SB24-035- Strengthening Enforcement of Human Trafficking, sponsored by Representatives Ty Winter and Monica Duran, and Senators Byron Pelton and Rhonda Fields. Governor Polis provided the following statement upon signing the bill. 

“This tough new law increases penalties for human trafficking and will make Colorado safer. This bipartisan bill brought together law enforcement experts, survivors, and victim advocates to keep Coloradans safer and crackdown on human trafficking” said Governor Polis.

Governor Polis signed the following bills into law administratively:

SB24-021 - Exempt Small Communities from HOA Requirements, sponsored by Representative Matt Soper, and Senators Janice Rich and Tony Exum. 

SB24-099- Public Employees' Retirement Association Employment after Retirement for Rural Schools, sponsored by Representatives Ty Winter and Barbara McLachlan, and Senators Rod Pelton and Janice Marchman.

SB24-138- Modification of County Elected Officer Salary Categories, sponsored by Representatives Mathew Martinez and Marc Catlin, and Senator Cleave Simpson.

SB24-155- Payment of Family & Medical Leave Benefits, sponsored by Representative Julia Marvin, and Senator Faith Winter. 

SB24-056- Out-of-State Snowmobile Permit & Search Rescue Fee, sponsored by Representatives Marc Snyder and Ron Weinberg, and Senators Nick Hinrichsen and Perry Will. 

HB24-1104 - Prohibiting Firefighter Personal Information on Internet, sponsored by Representatives Marc Snyder and Ryan Armagost, and Senator Tony Exum.

HB24-1033- Emergency Management Plan Individuals With Animals, sponsored by Representatives Marc Snyder and Elizabeth Velasco, and Senators Lisa Cutter and Sonya Jaquez Lewis. 

HB24-1100- Coroner Qualifications, sponsored by Representative Stephanie Vigil, and Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis.

HB24-1082 - First-Generation-Serving Higher Education Institutions, and sponsored by Representatives Rick Taggart and Javier Mabrey, and Senators Janice Rich and James Coleman.

HB24-1102- Independent Agency Appointment Requirements, sponsored by Representatives Chris deGruy Kennedy and Matt Soper, and Senator Tony Exum. 

HB24-1131- Local College Districts, sponsored by Representatives Meghan Lukens and Elizabeth Velasco, and Senators Dylan Roberts and Perry Will.
