G-PARC Alliance for Parks Announces Second Annual Parks Photo Contest

The Alliance for Parks of the Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (G-PARC), along with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, are pleased to announce the Second Annual Photo Contest, designed to showcase the best of Gaithersburg’s Parks, Arts, and Recreation. Photos should illustrate the connection between parks, arts, culture, and recreation in the City, and must be taken in a City Park. Photos should fall under one of the following themes.

- Outdoor Activity (Getting Active in our Parks)

- The Natural World (Plants & Animals in our Parks)

- Lovely Landscapes (Scenic Views & Vistas)

- Art in our Parks (Natural or Human-made)

The top 12 photos will be announced at the end of May. A panel of jurors comprised of local artists, members of G-PARC, and members of the City’s Communication and Public Engagement Division will select the winners. In addition, G-PARC will chose a random winner weekly during the month of April. G-PARC will announce all winners on Instagram and Facebook, and notify them via social media channels. The objective of this contest is to expand G-PARC’s social media presence through photo documentation of the City’s parks and activities.

G-PARC will exhibit the photos virtually on its social media and may exhibit photos over the summer of 2023 at select local galleries. The City may also use select photos in City produced print and digital publications.

There is no fee to enter, and G-PARC will accept multiple entries from residents. City residents can find complete submission details here. G-PARC board members, City staff, elected officials and their families are not eligible. For more information, please visit G-PARC’s webpage.
