Grassroots Arts Program Subgrant Application

Arts and Entertainment

June 30, 2022

Wilkes Art Gallery’s Subgrant Application Now Open [North Wilkesboro, North Carolina] Each year, Wilkes Art Gallery receives funding through the Grassroots Arts Program for Wilkes County. These funds are awarded by the North Carolina Art Council. 50% of the allotted amount is used to help other local arts organizations through the Grassroots Arts Program subgrants. The Grassroots Arts Program subgrant application is now open for fiscal year 2022-2023 through August 1st, 2022.

In 1977, the North Carolina General Assembly established the Grassroots Arts Program to ensure that every citizen has access to quality arts experiences. The program provides funding for the arts in all 100 counties in North Carolina.

Applications are open to non-profit organizations within Wilkes County who strive to diversify and develop cultural arts throughout the community. Precedence will be given to organizations directly supporting the arts (galleries, theaters, studios, etc.), educational arts programs led by qualified artists, and other community organizations that provide arts programming for the county.

Subgrants are not commonly awarded to organizations that already receive funding from the North Carolina Arts Council’s resources. Proposed projects and programs must take place within July 1st, 2022, and June 30th, 2023. Subgrant applications and grant guidelines are available at wilkesartgallery.org or can be acquired at Wilkes Art Gallery. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Applications must be submitted no later than August 1st, 2022.
