Help welcome Samara Klein as our new
Director of the Great Barrington Libraries!

Samara began as director of the Great Barrington Libraries on Monday, August 29^th. Born and raised in Great Barrington, she is a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School, and continued her education at Barnard College and Eugene Lang College of The New School University in New York City; currently, she is enrolled in a Masters of Library & Information Studies program at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Samara’s professional background is in book publishing, where she has worked in a variety of capacities from trade and foreign & subsidiary rights sales, to marketing, to board book & picture book publishing, at a variety of publishers: Abrams Books, The New Press, and, most recently, PJ Publishing, an imprint of the book distribution program, PJ Library. A frequent patron of the Great Barrington Libraries, Samara utilizes their materials, resources, services, and programs as a book lover, student, mother, and volunteer; she also served on the Great Barrington Library Board
of Trustees, and worked this summer as an arts & crafts program leader in the Mason Library’s youth department. Samara is thrilled to be here, and is looking forward to advocating for and championing the libraries, and to working with the staff, trustees, and town to make the Great Barrington Libraries even more equitably accessible and relevant to the communities they serve.
