See GWP's Investments in Clean Energy!

In comparison to our neighboring cities, GWP is well on track to meet our clean energy goals! Under the CEC's Power Source Disclosure Program, GWP is required to disclose to its retail consumers about the energy resources used to provide electricity service, as well as the greenhouse gas emissions intensity associated with its retail electricity portfolio through an annual Power Content Label. For comparison, the label includes a summary of California’s overall power mix during the same period. The resources mix is shown as a percentage of actual Retail Sales.

Rain Barrel Distribution Event on January 8

When rainwater is directed into a rain barrel, even 1/10 inch of rain can collect up to 63 gallons of water (off of an average 1000 sq. ft roof). Also, use your rain barrel as a storage unit to save water even when it is not raining! Put a bucket in your shower, so while you wait for the water to heat up, you’re not losing the first couple of gallons. Pour the saved water into your rain barrel to later use to water your trees or plants. Click here to view the flyer.

Click the button below to pre-order a rain barrel and pick up your purchase from Foothill MWD at 4536 Hampton Rd, La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011 on January 8, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Turf Replacement Rebate

With Southern CA in a sever drought, every drop of water we save counts. Did you know, 500 square feet of lawn can take up about 67,500 gallons of water annually? That's about the size of three swimming pools. Removing turf grass is one of the most water conscious adjustments a homeowner can make to reduce their water usage and associated costs.

This program rewards landscape designs that incorporate water-saving plants, technology, irrigation systems and hardware. Click on the button below to learn about the rebate and how to replace your lawn with a beautiful California Friendly® and native landscape that helps you save a significant amount of water and provides a home for birds, butterflies and beneficial pollinators.

Water Less During the Winter Months

rainAs we move into the winter months, it’s a good time to reset your irrigation controllers to just one day per week, since most plants don’t need as much water in the cooler months. Also, it’s a good idea to take advantage of the free water whenever we get rain by turning off your irrigation controllers one day prior to rainfall, and at least two days afterwards. Collecting rainfall in your rain barrel is also extremely resourceful.

This is also the best time to plant drought tolerant California native plants! The cooler months allow them to become more established in time for rains in the spring. Remember, we’re in a drought, and every drop counts!
