Houston, TX--- Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is pleased to kick off its 15th anniversary year with new board president, Edward Lane McCartney; four new board members; and its first-ever annual fund drive.
In July, Edward Lane McCartney became the visual arts organization's first artist to be elected Board President. McCartney is a nationally known mixed-media artist who works in art jewelry, as well as collage and sculpture, using unexpected materials. He has served on the HCCC Board of Directors since 2012 and on its executive committee for two years.
"Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is thrilled to welcome this group of outstanding volunteers, professionals and artists to our board, including our new board president, Edward Lane McCartney. As a former resident artist at HCCC in 2005 and a practicing craft artist, Edward brings with him a unique perspective that is very much in tune with Houston's artist community," said Mary Headrick, Interim Executive Director. "And, each of our new members brings with her a special skill set or experience that is greatly beneficial to our organization. Our staff is looking forward to this group's leadership and support of our upcoming programs and initiatives for our 15th anniversary year."
