Government and Politics

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Today, Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl released the following statement after Governor Eric Holcomb signed House Enrolled Act 1235, which retroactively changed Indiana’s law to before Gary’s lawsuit against the gun manufacturers began in 1999.

“If you’re a special interest in Indiana, and you don’t like a court ruling, just come running to the Republican supermajority, and they will turn back time to reverse the court’s decision and protect your profits at the expense of people.

Republicans have shielded utility companiesTV and streaming service providers, and now gun manufacturers from state court decisions in recent years. This excessive supermajority is not serving Hoosiers and their communities.

It’s time for balance in the state government, and it starts in November. Just four more Democratic seats in the Indiana House of Representatives ends the supermajority and restores much needed accountability to the General Assembly.”
