For many, yearly traditions are what make the holiday season so special. Whether it's baking Christmas cookies or decorating the tree, traditions are what bring family and friends together. At The Buckingham senior living community, one tradition has become a holiday favorite. For the past few years, Santa has made a special visit to the community so residents can enjoy seeing their grandchildren and great grandchildren's eyes light up as they get to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Lasting memories are made between the irreplaceable relationship that is a grandparent and a grandchild.
"Seeing the residents with their grandchildren is always a wonderful vision," said Cathy Lightfoot, sales and marketing director at The Buckingham. "Hearing the children laugh is music to our ears. Christmas is such a lovely time of year, and it's important to be able to spend those moments with your loved ones."
Another highly anticipated event at The Buckingham was the annual resident holiday party. Merriment and cheer filled the air as residents gathered to celebrate the holiday season. Greeted by festive decorations and in their holiday best, over 200 people enjoyed a gourmet dinner with entertainment by Dehner Franks.
"The Buckingham would not be the great place it is without the amazing residents who live here," said Julie Fenkse, executive director at The Buckingham. "This holiday party was just one way to let them know how much we appreciate them and to say thank you for making The Buckingham their home."
