Even threats against children isn’t enough for the IL GOP to stop supporting their leader
Chicago, IL – After spending Tuesday’s debate spreading xenophobic theories, Donald Trump, JD Vance and, no surprise here, the Illinois GOP continue to add fuel to the fire. Even after schoolchildren in Springfield, Ohio received bomb threats influenced by Trump’s hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric and even after local officials and Ohio GOP Governor Mike DeWine tried to set the record straight, Illinois Republicans have refused to speak out against his lies. Instead, former RNC committeeman Richard Porter retweeted a video amplifying the conspiracy and IL GOP Chair Salvi called on candidates statewide to embrace Donald Trump. In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:
“It’s a sad day when the Illinois GOP are too busy regurgitating racist talking points to care about the safety of children and an entire community. Unfortunately, it’s business as usual for a party that would rather stay in line with Trump than speak out against his racism.”
