Julie Fenske was recently named Chairman of the Board for the Alzheimer's Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter. In her role as Chairman, Fenske will be the principal officer of the Chapter and will preside at all Board of Directors meetings. Fenske is currently the executive director at The Buckingham, Houston's premier senior living community, and has been actively involved with the group for many years.
"It is an honor to be selected as Chairman for this amazing organization," said Fenske. "The Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association already has a stellar reputation, and my goal is to continue that legacy. I know the feeling of losing someone to Alzheimer's or dementia so I will work hard to grow fundraising efforts and awareness for this devastating disease."
With more than 20 years' experience serving seniors across the country, Fenske understands the effects Alzheimer's and dementia have on society. "I've seen what it does not only to the individual living with the disease but also the struggles their family and friends go through trying to care for them. My goal is to let people know they are not alone in this fight."
The Alzheimer's Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter has been serving the Greater Houston Area for more than 30 years. The Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter began in 1980 as a grassroots organization meeting at a local church. The Chapter was incorporated in 1982. From their humble beginnings as a volunteer-driven organization that primarily served Southwest Houston, they have expanded into an organization with 28 staff members and over 300 volunteers who serve 37 counties.
