Kent, CT - Stephanie Mauri, a familiar presence in the Kent dental health field for more than a decade, has launched Kent Biomedical Acupuncture, with offices in the Kent Green opposite Town Hall.

Mrs. Mauri, who has served the community as a registered dental hygienist since the early 2000s, said her new practice will emphasize integrative medicine, combining modern medicine with established approaches from around the world and working in concert with other local health care providers.

Earning her credentials in acupuncture from the University of Bridgeport, Mrs. Mauri also holds a Master of Science degree. She served clinical internships with the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Clinic,SoundShoreMedicalCenter (MontefioreHospital), and School Sisters of Notre Dame in Wilton, CT.

"My interest in acupuncture grew out of a desire to do more for people, particularly with natural medicine," she said. "As a hygienist, I have observed how lifestyle and preventive

medicine can make a significant difference in quality of life.  Often, our zest for life becomes compromised by bodily pain, disability or illness.  My goals are to respect and support everyone's natural health and dignity in every way that I can."

The acupuncturist notes that the human body is a mixture of structures and fluids, cells and chemicals that are subject to the laws of physics, and respond to physical therapies.  "These physical therapies in turn stimulate chemical, energetic and structural changes in the body. Three types of therapies that work together well are acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga and bodywork.  Each by its own methods stimulates improvement in the deep connective tissue layers of the body."

Mrs. Mauri says an initial half-hour treatment is "ideal for people who are curious about acupuncture, and want to try a small treatment, to see how their body feels.  We have a brief consultation about your chief complaint.  This includes a musculoskeletal assessment, as tension on the outside of the body often reflects tension and/or dysfunction on the inside." She says that in addition to traditional acupuncture she will offer Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatment.
