BAY CITY—Congressman Dan Kildee, Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, hosted the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District today.
After landing together on Air Force One at MBS International Airport in Freeland, Mich., Kildee and President Biden toured and gave remarks at SK Siltron CSS’ new manufacturing facility in Bay City to highlight new laws like the CHIPS and Science Act that are creating good-paying Michigan manufacturing jobs.
Congressman Kildee helped pass the CHIPS and Science Act, a law passed by Congress and signed into law by the president to accelerate the production of American-made semiconductors, fix broken supply chains to lower costs and make critical investments to compete economically with China. After the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act, SK Siltron announced plans for a new $300 million investment in Bay County, helping to create 150 new jobs.
“With new laws like the CHIPS and Science Act, we are bringing good-paying manufacturing jobs to Michigan, fixing supply chains to lower costs for families, and growing our economy. I was proud to work with Republicans and Democrats to pass this critical legislation, and I’ll continue working in Congress to ensure we make more things in America, not overseas.”
