LA QUINTA, Calif. – Guy Fieri’s popular Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” where the host takes cross-country road trips to discover America’s classic dining joints, will air a feature on La Quinta’s Chúla Artisan Eatery, owned by local chef Katherine Gonzalez, on Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16. Known for Gonzalez’s preparation of some of her mom’s traditional dishes made with the chef’s own creative spin, Chula’s is dedicated to honoring its family’s culture and highlighting the products of nearby growers.

The show, “From Chicken to Chiles,” season 35, episode 13 will air Friday, July 15, at 9 p.m. EDT and then again on Saturday, July 16, at 12 a.m. EDT. Chúla’s Mom’s Chilaquiles will be Fieri’s highlighted dish. It’s made with red or green sauce, sauteed house-made corn chips, pulled pork, chicken or vegetables, sweet onion, queso fresco, a poached egg, avocado, onion jam and micro greens. “I’m thrilled to be honoring my mother with her recipe and to be on Food Network, which reaches 100 million U.S. households,” said Gonzalez.

Chúla Artisan Eatery, located on 47150 Washington Street in La Quinta, was founded on Gonzalez’s upbringing in Southern Arizona, and inspired by her mother’s family from Chihuahua, Mexico, and her father’s family from Spain. She grew up enjoying Mexican-inspired comfort food and an appreciation for celebrating homemade food with friends and family.

“We are locally sourced, made from scratch, beautiful, delicious food, organic espresso, delightful pastries, a mimosa in the sunshine, farm to table and oh so bueno,” says Chúla’s proprietor.

Chúla, which is open daily for breakfast and brunch until 2:30 p.m., is a café and bakery that offers catering, workshops, special events and private dinners.
