Lake Montauk Harbor Project Moves Forward

MONTAUK, NY - Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has executed the Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) for the Lake Montauk Harbor Continuing Authorities Program Section 107 project with the Town of East Hampton - the project’s non-federal sponsor.

This project will deepen the Lake Montauk Harbor channel from 12 to 17 feet, which will improve navigation for the local fishing fleet. Advertising of the construction contract is expected to take place early in the summer of 2023 and the deepening is expected to be complete by the end of 2023. Congressman Zeldin has worked closely with USACE throughout his tenure to advance this project. In December 2020 government funding legislation, Congressman Zeldin secured language that directed the expedited completion of the feasibility study and, if justified, the preconstruction of this project.

“Lake Montauk Harbor is an essential artery for our fishing industry on the East End of Long Island. This long-awaited project will do a great deal to improve navigation, efficiency and safety for our local fishermen, and I am extremely grateful to the Army Corps and our local partners for their commitment to advancing this important initiative,” said Congressman Zeldin.
