Lanesboro Area Art Trail off to great start, two more weekends left to explore studios

Lanesboro, Minn, Sept. 1, 2022 --  Three weekends a year, something magical happens in the small hamlet of Lanesboro, Minn., — the Lanesboro Area Art Trail. Over the weekend of Sept. 16 and 17, artists who have made Lanesboro their home, open the doors to their studios and welcome the public into their private work spaces.

“This is a collaborative effort between individual fine artists in town,” said Sue Pariseau, an organizer of the event and one of the participating artists. “Individual studio artists are opening their studios to the public during scheduled open house weekends so visitors can visit with the artist, see these scenic and inspiring artistic spaces, learn each artist’s process and shop the artist’s available body of work.”

The Lanesboro Area Art Trail gives lovers of Lanesboro, fine art, and the artistic process an inside look at how the art-sausage is made. This self-guided tour through the town and the region, takes one to 10 different stops for the opportunity to visit artists and get a closer look at how they make their art. While walking through town, both business and residential, as well as to studios tucked out in the Bluffs, individuals will also gain insight on why so many artists have chosen to make Lanesboro their home.

“The first weekend of our 2022 Art Trail went very well. It’s such a nice treat to invite art lovers into our spaces and give them an inside look at our process as artists, and talk about what inspires the work” said Pariseau. “It’s a unique, one-on-one experience between patron and artist and we hope our guests cherish it as much as we do. We can’t wait to open our studio doors again!”

The artists will also open their studios in October, during the weekend of Oct. 14 and 15. For more information on the artists participating and to get a copy of the map, visit www.lanesboroareaarttrail.com.
