Larson Hosts Community Conversation on Homeowner Assistance in Hartford

Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) hosted a community conversation on homeowner assistance at the Wilson-Gray YMCA in Hartford.

"When Congress passed the American Rescue Plan, we brought back more than $300 million in housing assistance to Connecticut residents, including $123 million for the MyHomeCT program,” said Larson. “Through MyHomeCT, assistance is available to homeowners for mortgage relief and other pandemic-related housing costs. Today’s conversation was an important opportunity for residents to learn how they can access these resources and apply for this critical relief.”

“MyHomeCT is a critical tool that will help homeowners get relief from housing-related costs as a result of the pandemic and be able to continue living in their neighborhoods. It will reduce housing insecurity and help households get fully back on their feet after the impact of COVID-19,” said State Senator Doug McCrory. “Thank you to Congressman Larson and the entire Connecticut federal delegation for securing this housing and financial support through the American Rescue Plan. Now, we have to get the word out to our friends and neighbors that this program is available to them. It is more than relief, it is an investment in the well-being of Connecticut’s families.”

“Representative Larson and the Connecticut delegation are to be commended for their swift action in securing mortgage relief funds for Connecticut homeowners,” said Seila Mosquera-Bruno, Commissioner of the Department of Housing. “Due to their efforts, thousands of Connecticut homeowners who experienced COVID-related hardships will be able to access $123 million in assistance to cure or prevent mortgage delinquencies and pay for other housing-related costs. The MyHomeCT program steers families away from the danger of losing their home and toward to financially healthy future.”

residents can apply online or find the nearest MyHomeCT Resource Center to speak with someone in-person. Assistance is available for missed mortgage payments, future payments, and other housing costs, including real estate taxes, homeowners’ insurance, and tax liens. Each homeowner can apply for up to $30,000 in assistance.
