From: Beale Memorial Library

Bakersfield, California - Kern County Library and Kern County Law Library invites residents to an event offering free legal information from attorneys and community partners at Beale Memorial Library on Wednesday, May 3rd from Noon to 5:00 p.m.

This first-come, first-served event will allow Kern County residents to talk to attorneys and volunteers from community organizations on a variety of legal topics.

The areas of law discussed at Law Day will include criminal defense, civil lawsuits, family law, child support, workers’ compensation/disability, guardianships, bankruptcy, immigration, eviction, and probate. “Most people who come to the Law Library have a goal in mind, but don’t know where to start,” said Evan Moran, Law Librarian at Kern County Law Library, “We invite the public to this free event to gain a better understanding of how to make their legal goals a reality.”

Law Day is free to all with no pre-registration necessary. Attendees should arrive ready to give a brief description of their legal question so they can be paired with a volunteer attorney or member of a community organization that can share resources and information.

Kern County Library thanks it's partners, the Kern County Law Library and Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance, as well as the team of outstanding volunteer attorneys and community organizers for bringing this event back to the library after a long hiatus.

Kern County Library is committed to supporting educational and literacy efforts in our 22 locations for learners of all ages and levels through books, programs, and digital resources.
