Violence against women is a devastating human rights violation visited upon one in every three women,” UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis stated on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. “There is #NoExcuse. Everyone, everywhere, has a responsibility to repudiate this abuse, and to commit to working to prevent it.”

The League of Women Voters of the United States issued the following statement after the Eighth Circuit of Appeals ruled there is no “private right of action” for Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act:

“Monday’s decision is another devastating attempt to threaten our democracy. The Voting Rights Act, one of the most important laws of our time, was intended to create a pathway to thwarting racial discrimination in voting targeting Black voters and voters of color. See more!
