The ruling in Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization will go down in history as one of the most impactful decisions in our nation’s history. As a former gynecologic oncologist, I know firsthand how this will impact not only the billions of Americans who can become pregnant, but also their families, communities, and nation. The Police Accountability Board (PAB) hosted a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, where they took two votes on the Berkeley Police Department’s (BPD) use of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR).The PAB members brought up many important points to consider regarding the new implementation of ALPR devices across Berkeley. One significant point that was mentioned was that there is no concrete evidence that ALPR devices do reduce crimes in the areas that they have already been used. See more!

The City of Albany Racial Inclusivity & Social Equity Commission gathered together on July 5th 2023 to discuss the 2023-­2031 City of Albany housing goals and items to include in the 2023-­2024 work plan.

Some Albany’s housing goals for 2023-2031 are equitable access to housing in all Albany neighborhoods, new housing that meets the needs of the entire community, expanding housing and services for those with special needs, reducing constraints that add to housing costs or create barriers, minimizing displacement and promote fair housing for all, and improving financial resources for affordable housing.
