We have named our NextGen civic engagement program, in which youth leaders conduct community outreach and observe local political events that they document in articles, after longtime League member Helene Lecar.

Join us in supporting the Helene Lear Civic Engagement Program that empowers the next generation of change makers. Your generous gift makes a world of difference, as we seek to nurture the voices, visions, and talents of young people who are our future community leaders! Join the effort here!

Attend the Annual Meeting this Thursday, June 8th, at 6:30 PM, which will begin with an expert panel who will lead the conversation: Defend Democracy: Prepare Now for the 2024 General Election.

The League of Women Voters, and other civil rights and civic organizations, have been advocating for Alameda County officials to ramp up voter engagement, educational efforts and independent oversight of our local elections. Greater transparency, robust partnerships, and accountability are needed to ensure best practices are fully implemented in our county. Register!

Juneteenth in Berkeley is held annually on Father’s Day on south Berkeley’s five-block Alcatraz-Adeline corridor. A full day of festivities celebrating African American music, culture, traditions, and Black History. It’s a huge family gathering with booths of food, entertainment, and art. Your League will be there, as requested, to conduct voter registration and provide election information. We are co-sponsors of the celebration! Please attend and volunteer with us at our table. Sign up to volunteer!
