The Albany City Council approved an additional $65,000 in rebates for the “Heat Pump HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) Rebate Program” on February 6th. In addition, there is a $750 signing bonus for contractors who register with Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) or TECH Clean California. Heat Pumps are an alternative to the conventional furnaces in our homes, which require gas to operate. Learn more!

Emeryville’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a five-year plan that local residents – whether they live in or simply routinely visit the city – are asked to weigh in on by March 31st. Public feedback helps shape Emeryville’s CIP that in turn guides the city’s investment in public buildings, parks, streets, sewers, and other facilities. Projects included in the CIP are large-scale, long-term investments that build, replace, or improve public infrastructure. Read more!

As a member of the LWV Observer Group at the UN, I’ve observed that, through participation in the work of the UN, LWV is well placed to ensure that the views of the League are reflected in emerging issues — particularly those governing women’s rights efforts, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, the NGO Committee on Social Development, and climate action. Learn more!

The 2022 midterm election cycle saw new challenges that took several forms: anti-voter laws, voter suppression activities, mis- and disinformation campaigns, election subversion tactics, new gerrymandered electoral maps, an extended primary season, and a national poll worker shortage.
