Steve Lemenille nominated for a 2013 NJACT Perry Award as Outstanding Director of a Play

[Westfield, NJ—July 27, 2013]—The New Jersey Association of Community Theaters [NJACT] recently presented it list of nominees for the 2013 Perry Awards at its meeting in Somerset, NJ at the Villagers Theater. Among the nominees was Steve Lemenille of Westfield Community Players.

Mr. Lemenille was nominated as Outstanding Director of a Play for his direction of the David Auburn drama, { P r o o f } for Westfield Community Players (WCP). Steve has received other NJACT Perry Award nominations in the past: 2012 Perry Nomination for Outstanding Production of a Play as producer and as Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play, both for Rehearsal for Murder at WCP, 2011 Perry Award Nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for his role as Isaac Cohen in Abie's Irish Rose at WCP and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Play as Justice Lawrence Wargrave in Agathe Christie's And Then There Were None at Main Street Theater in Parlin, and a 2009 Perry Award Nomination for Outstanding Male Actor in an Ensemble as the Magistrate in Neil Simon's Fools at WCP.

Mr. Lemenille, who resides in Clark, NJ, has been involved in theater since his college days at Jersey City State College (now NJCU) where his first major role was that of Otto Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank produced by Tower Players. He subsequently went on to act with Bergen County Players, act and direct for Stage Crafters of Fairlawn and Regal Dinner Theater Productions. He was also a Core Social Studies Instructor and Drama Director for 29 years with the Hackensack Board of Education.

Steve is currently the President of Westfield Community Players, as well as, its web master. Mr. Lemenille has previously directed such WCP productions as Dial 'M' for Murder, A View from the Bridge, Squabbles and Proof. He will be directing Barefoot in the Park at WCP which opens Oct. 5, 2013.

The New Jersey Association of Community Theaters (NJACT) is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting local theater around the state. The group’s core mission is to celebrate outstanding achievements by artists of all disciplines involved in the performance and production of New Jersey Community Theater. This is accomplished through the NJACT Perry Awards, New Jersey's premiere community theater awards program. Originally founded by William Perry Morganas the AVY Awards over 35 years ago, the organization has transformed itself several times, but has always kept its focus on celebrating creativity, craftsmanship and community in local theater. The 2013 Perry Award Ceremony will take place on Sept 22, 2013 at the Somerset DoubleTree Hotel.
