Whissel participated on a panel discussing social media strategies for real estate. He spoke on the importance of using social media to build relationships and show brand personality. Whissel advised professionals to avoid sounding like a business robot, but instead to share information with followers that followers will find interesting through their brands unique personality.
"We leverage Facebook to build relationships with people. Instead of being a sales person to someone, we're finding them on Facebook and learning about what they do for a living, what they like to do for fun, etc.," advised Whissel. "This way we build a true relationship with people. Maybe they aren't ready to buy right away; it may be six to twelve months before they're ready. But if we can connect with them and build that relationship, we can be who they come to when they are ready to make that step."
BoomTown Unite is an annual conference held by BoomTown, a real estate software company in Charleston, SC. This event is a chance for BoomTown clients to come together to share knowledge and network among thought leaders in the industry.
