All month long, we are honoring and celebrating Black History Month with programs for all ages. Come learn, create, and connect!
This February you can hear from the Palm Beach County Juneteenth Committee, bring your children to "African Storytelling" with Spoken Word Poet and African Percussionist Abasi “Manblack” Hanif, learn more about famous Black artists like Faith Ringgold, Kehinde Wiley, and Jacob Lawrence with a Black History Month Collage Grab & Go Art Kit — and so much more!
What's New
It's a Wrap: Hair Wrapping
On Saturday, February 11, join Kianga Jinaki and her daughter in the auditorium as they teach the art of hair wrapping. Each participant will leave with their own hair wrap at the end of the class. Registration is required for this program.
Black Literature Lecture Series
Beginning on Sunday, February 12, Professor Africa Fine from Palm Beach State College returns to delve into Black literature. Each lecture will focus on a different point in history to show its evolution.
Claire Salmon's "Kijana Heroes" Poster Series
Throughout the month of February, visit Claire Salmon’s poster exhibit, “Kijana Heroes.” Learn about the inspiring African and African American men and women who have shared their wisdom and example with us by their change-making actions. No registration required.
Family Storytime Celebrates Black History
On Wednesday, February 22, join Children’s Librarian Ms. Jin for special edition storytimes celebrating Black authors and illustrators during Black History Month. For families with children up to 5 years old. Space is limited, and in-person sign-up begins in KidSpace at 9:30 AM.

What is the Lesson in Così Fan Tutte’s “School for Lovers”
Friday, February 10 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Adults | In Person | Auditorium
The subtitle for Mozart’s 1790 opera is “La scuola degli amanti” (The School for Lovers). The lesson for the audience, however, is ambiguous. Our panelists will discuss their thoughts on the moral (or absence of a moral) of a story about a series of tests of fidelity that a cynical bachelor orchestrates for two young couples when the lovers ultimately give in to romantic temptation. Panelists: Matteo Magarotto, Lecturer at the Frost School of Music of the University of Miami; and Arina Pismenny, Assistant Instructional Professor in Philosophy at the University of Florida.
