HOUSTON- October 14, 2015 - McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 36 years, recently hired Philip Zazzera as its new safety director in Houston and surrounding area markets. In his new position, Zazzera will be responsible for overseeing that McCarthy's safety policies and procedures are developed and implemented on each project.
Zazzera has more than 20 years of experience in construction project management, corporate environmental, health and safety; and healthcare, wastewater treatment and heavy civil projects. He has planned and managed more than $600 million in construction costs. Prior to joining McCarthy, Zazzera served as the corporate environmental, health and safety director for all projects at John P. Picone, Inc. (A Dragados USA company) in Lawrence, New York and Skanska USA Civil Northeast in New York City.

Zazzera received a certification in Construction Project Management from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and currently holds his Certified Safety Professional License (CSP).
