HOUSTON September 17, 2015 McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 36 years, is currently working on the Houston Methodist Alkek Level 9 Universal Care renovation in the Texas Medical Center. The project is led by McCarthy's Houston-based Specialized Solutions Group (SSG) which concentrates on the unique needs of the Texas Medical Center and surrounding premier institutions focusing on healthcare, laboratory and higher education-related renovation and expansion projects.

"Since its inception in 2014, the Specialized Solutions Group has produced several quality projects in Houston. We are proud of how quickly this division has grown, and are excited to be working on a project with Houston Methodist Hospital which is an integral part of the Texas Medical Center here in Houston," said McCarthy Project Manager Preston Hodges. "Working on projects such as the Alkek Level 9 project not only advances the Specialized Solutions Group's expertise in the healthcare industry, but also provides the opportunity to enhance a building that will impact countless lives in the community."

The demolition and renovation project will convert Level 9 of the Houston Methodist Alkek Level 9 into a 17,000-square-foot Universal Care Unit/ICU with 19 inpatient beds. The project also includes the demolition and replacement of multiple pieces of mechanical equipment on Level 10 and the roof of the Methodist Alkek Building.
