When you’re stuck in your house, hungry and alone, it’s hard to get to the food and friendship you need. Right now, that is the daily burden for millions of America’s seniors.
With COVID-19 safety precautions in place, it’s not only scary – but risky – for older adults to leave the house for a trip to the grocery store.
The sad truth is that many will skip meals or eat unhealthy canned foods from their cupboards instead of asking for help. And, social distancing measures make it nearly impossible for family, friends and neighbors to visit or drop off food.
Local Meals on Wheels programs are doing their best to keep up with the huge increase in demand. By July, they stretched their resources to serve an average of 77% more meals than they were delivering before the pandemic hit.
And, the demand will continue to grow in the days, weeks and months ahead.
Please, don’t stop caring about our seniors. Don’t stop giving. Don’t Stop Now™.
