Lupe is the rock of her family.
A deep tradition of service for our country ripples throughout their history, dating back to her stepfather's ultimate sacrifice while fighting in World War II.
Decades later, in service to the Army, Lupe's son lost his life. The burial flag presented to her at his funeral is proudly displayed in her dining room today. He will not be forgotten.
Your donation will help make sure veterans and their families, like Lupe, are not forgotten either.
The house Lupe lives in has been home to her family since 1962. The impacts of her age led to a recent fall on the steps to her backyard that bruised her up pretty well. It created constant fear that another could happen at any time, and even so, Lupe is not ready to leave.
Fortunately, Meals on Wheels stepped in to build a ramp to help her up and down those steps. And now, she can get in and out of the house safely and without worry.
"I was so proud of them that they fixed that," says Lupe. "I don't want to move anywhere else."
This 4th of July, keep seniors like Lupe in your heart. Your gift of $25, $50 or $200 will help us support local programs to keep seniors safe and living with independence.
Because that's what it means to be an American. That's what it means to be a veteran. Support your veteran neighbors and their families so that no American is left behind.
