Don't Stop Now
Veterans Day is the perfect time to make a gift to honor those who fought bravely for our country – like Ed.
Ed served in the U.S. Army in 1968, the deadliest year of the Vietnam War. He spent the majority of that time engaged in intense battles in the most dangerous locations: the Ho Chi Minh Trail and Iron Triangle. Thankfully, Ed made it home.
He built a good life for himself and his wife. Then, her passing, followed by his own bout with cancer, brought him face to face with more personal challenges. Again, he found his way through.
However, struggles weren’t over for Ed as he broke his hip during an accident only a few years later. As a result of those injuries, he found himself immobilized and unable to drive.
That’s when he turned to Meals on Wheels. Because even the strongest among us need help sometimes – and your gift can provide a vital lifeline.
Since then, Ed’s local Meals on Wheels program has kept him healthy, with good food and nutrition, and the volunteers are a much-needed break from the painful quiet of isolation.
“I haven’t had one frown come to the door, it’s been really rewarding,” Ed says.
Ed isn’t the only one. With your support, Meals on Wheels programs nationwide protect senior veterans from loneliness and hunger.
You can help our proudest American heroes keep their dignity and independence this Veterans Day with a gift today.
They fought for us—now we need to fight for them.
