Poverty has an overwhelming grip on seniors across America.
7.1 million seniors are struggling to make ends meet. The cost of living continues to rise. Retirement savings dwindle over time. Bills pile up. Too many seniors can no longer afford the food, medications and housing they need.
This is unacceptable – and there's no time to wait for seniors like Melvona. We're asking you to step up and help with a donation today.
Your compassion means clients like Melvona know they have a hot meal to look forward to, no matter how tight money becomes.
Melvona likes to cook but struggles to keep food on the table while also supporting her daughter and three grandchildren. Her husband Ricky, like many Meals on Wheels clients, is a veteran whose injuries required him to stop working.
Thanks to support from donors like you, they receive nutritious meals every day, along with a friendly visit and safety check from their Meals on Wheels volunteer.
Now, Melvona and Ricky are feeling less suffocated by the stress of managing the little money they have.
"We really appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts," Melvona says.
Living in poverty is living on $234 a week or less, which, after housing, utility and medical expenses, leaves very little for food.
Help give seniors in this poverty struggle one thing that they can rely on: Meals on Wheels.
Your gift will go to Meals on Wheels America, the national organization that helps support more than 5,000 local
Meals on Wheels programs across the country.
