Tote-and-Go Art Kit Services
 
This service happens every Monday (February - November 2022) at 12 PM.  Located inside the Mesquite Arts Center's front lobby area.  This is a first-come, first-serve event.  No registration is required but is available online.   Children DO NOT need to be present to pick-up art kits.

Este servicio ocurre todos los lunes (febrero - noviembre de 2022) a las 12 PM.  Ubicado dentro del área del vestíbulo delantero del Mesquite Arts Center.  Este es un evento por orden de llegada.  No se requiere registro, pero está disponible en línea.  Los niños NO necesitan estar presentes para recoger los kits de arte.

Nov 2  | Understanding & Formation of CRIT CULTURE

Jennifer Wester, a working artist with a degree from Yale and SMU respectively, has seen a variety of critical discussions, facilitated and ad-hoc. The differences she observed in participant satisfaction and subsequent artist appreciation of critical discussions have led her to investigate the nuances, needs, and impacts of different critical approaches, formats, and expectations of critique. She would like to share her resulting insights and two of the most popular crit culture structures, from her observations, as a contribution to Dallas artists and the broader North Texas Arts community.

As the artist behind the Art Experience Confessional (@artconfessional ), she has been committed to elevating discussions in and around art with the general public. With Dallas rapidly growing, and the arts community strengthening by the day through grassroots organizations such as Aurora, Cedars Open Studios, and the Cedars Union, she believes that thoughtful community establishment of healthy crit cultures can serve to strengthen connections among DFW artists. It is to this end that I propose this workshop.

Nov 2 | Comprensión y formación de la CULTURA CRIT

Jennifer Wester, una artista trabajadora con un título de Yale y SMU respectivamente, ha visto una variedad de discusiones críticas, facilitadas y ad-hoc. Las diferencias que observó en la satisfacción de los participantes y la posterior apreciación artística de las discusiones críticas la han llevado a investigar los matices, necesidades e impactos de diferentes enfoques críticos, formatos y expectativas de la crítica. Le gustaría compartir sus ideas resultantes y dos de las estructuras de cultura crítica más populares, a partir de sus observaciones, como una contribución a los artistas de Dallas y a la comunidad artística más amplia del norte de Texas.

Como artista detrás del Art Experience Confessional (@artconfessional ), se ha comprometido a elevar las discusiones en y alrededor del arte con el público en general.  Con Dallas creciendo rápidamente, y la comunidad artística fortaleciéndose día a día a través de organizaciones de base como Aurora, Cedars Open Studios y Cedars Union, ella cree que el establecimiento comunitario reflexivo de culturas críticas saludables puede servir para fortalecer las conexiones entre los artistas de DFW. Please join the Mesquite Arts Council as they welcome Dallas illustrator Joe Cadena to instruct you on how to draw. On Nov 30, Joe will teach us about Fall. This virtual program is intended for individuals 8 years old and up. You will need the following items to participate:

(1) Pencil, Pen, or Marker

(1) Eraser

(1) Sharpener

Paper or Canvas

Drawing Tablet - optional

Instructor Joe Cadena will create off of his drawing tablet. All images can be drawn on paper or canvas. If you have a digital tablet to draw from and want to get better at digital drawing, please refer to past episodes of "Let's Draw Digital" with Joe Cadena on our YouTube channel.
