For those that weren't able to attend our annual Holiday Party at the Outdoor Art Club earlier this month, here's a brief look at how we see ourselves as an organization as we head into 2023. Vice Mayor Urban Carmel urged attendees to “view this project in the broader context. For a long time, Mill Valley has made absolutely no affordable housing for the past three decades, and just three developments (Shelter Hill, Alto Station and Pickleweed Apartments) over five decades. Marin IJ: Marin Leaders Flag ‘Tough’ Economic Forecast
Warnings about worrisome economic times in Marin as the new year approaches came from multiple fronts on Tuesday. Marin County managers presented the likelihood that the county will see dramatic cuts in state and federal funding to county supervisors. In a separate briefing, Robert Eyler, chief economist of the Marin Economic Forum, presented a similarly dour forecast. “Next year is going to be a tough year,” he said during an online presentation he delivered to Marin Economic Forum members. FULL STORY.

MV Friends of Parks & Rec Ramp Up Fundraising To Back Facilities Around Town
In just six years since its debut in 2016, Mill Valley Friends of Parks and Recreation have donated more than $350,000 towards Parks and Recreation projects, including: sports field renovations, Community Center enhancements, skate Park renovation, golf course improvements and much more. Image Flow Hosts Renowned Photojournalist Ed Kashi for Lecture & Signing – Jan. 7, 5pm
Kashi is coming to Marin to teach a photography workshop at The Image Flow in San Anselmo in January, with a lecture on his latest award-winning monograph on January 7. Kashi’s arrival in Marin comes on the heels of his coverage of the health impacts on laborers prior to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. FULL STORY.

Singers Marin Is Accepting New Soprano and Alto Voices For Its Spring Season – With a Chance to Perform in Ireland!
All Soprano and Alto voices are welcome. Rehearsals start on January 9th and take place on Monday nights In Tiburon from 7-9pm. A concert at the end of the season will be presented to the community on Sunday, May 13th. FULL STORY.

Carol Jacobsen to Showcase Her Artwork in Homestead Valley in January
"All of the portraits are of African-American women, most of whom have been ignored in history books. By using colors and painting styles influenced by Impressionist painters and others, Jacobsen combines the Black diasporic history with European art." FULL STORY.
