Kate Barrengos Showcases ‘You Are Here’ Mixed Media Work @ MV Chamber in April
For her current exhibit, “Mill Valley,” Barrengos “celebrates a town where you can stumble out the front door, head off in any direction, and find beauty. The work is  purposefully simplified and fantastical, painted with acrylic on linen in a 20×16-inch vertical format.  This consistency and directness underscores how remarkable this town is.”

From Destination Art to the Multi-Faceted Vintage Ruse in Tam Junction, Jules Mercer Is a Force for Community & Creativity

Mercer spotted a for-lease sign at the intersection of Shoreline Hwy. and Almonte Blvd., a space so large at 6,000 square feet that she could manifest the community hub she’d sought for ages: part retail, part creative outlet and part community gathering space in which to host events – or allow others to use the massive space to do so. Watershed, AIM & Stemple Creek Ranch Team for a ‘Food, Wine & Friends’ Event at MV Lumber Yard – April 4

MV Chamber to Honor a Pair of Inspirational Teachers at Excellence in Education Awards – April 26
With support from Redwood Credit Union, Bank of Marin and the aforementioned chambers, this year’s celebration highlights 8 educators, with each receiving $500. Full Story.

Seager Gray Showcases Leslie Allen’s ‘Minding Paint in April
Allen’s paintings are a testament to a life immersed in culture. The paintings contain deft references to art history, literature and an abiding love of music. A cello player, Allen’s most lyrical paintings surely take their cue from music. She paints with an ear for rhythm, tone and a love of subtle crescendos of movement and form. Full Story.

Performing Stars, Marin Housing, Clean MV & Many More Team for Earth Day Cleanup in Marin City – April 22, 9am-3pm
A wide range of organizations are coming together once again to spearhead a Community Wide Clean Up in Marin City on Friday, April 22, 9am-3pm. Clean Mill Valley is joining Marin’s Performing Stars, the Marin Housing Authority (MHA), Golden Gate Village, the Marin County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (MCSTOPPP), the Conservation Corps North Bay and more. Clean Mill Valley Remains Vigilant on Reducing Litter, Garners Kudos from CalTrans’ Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator

Books that are in good to excellent condition are added to the bookstore (many are like new). The prices are quite reasonable and the inventory changes daily so it’s a good idea to shop often.

With the Tragic Loss of James "Tony" Coyle, We've Lost a Gem of a Human Being
The Mill Valley Chamber's collective hearts are as heavy as they can be this week with the tragic loss of James "Tony" Coyle, a longtime Chamber member and Ambassador whose words brought laughter and whose deeds directly impacted the lives of those around him for the better. Tony has left us at 83 years old. Full Story.

What are we doing to provide direct support to our neighbors? We’re leveraging the incredible generosity of individuals and businesses for good by turning Community Sponsorships into hundreds of scholarship tickets for students and artists – more than 300 were distributed in 2022 – who might not otherwise be able to attend MVMF. Mountain Play Returns With Nicole Helfer-Directed ‘Into the Woods’ – May 21-June 18
Directed and Choreographed by Nicole Helfer, and Music Direction by Daniel Alley, Into the Woods takes you on a journey with everyone’s favorite characters from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, as they navigate the woods in search of wishes fulfilled. Full Story.

After Four-Year Hiatus, Outdoor Art Club’s Garden Tour Returns – May 4
This year’s tour features four estate gardens with hilltop vistas on Mill Valley’s historic Middle Ridge. The tour includes a four-acre property bordering Mt. Tam State Park with an extensive organic garden and heritage trees, a garden designer’s paradise with locally crafted sculptures and a hidden pool, and an English garden bursting with roses. Let’s face it: The Blithedale Project, a complete makeover of one of Mill Valley’s two main arterials, is necessary work. But it’s also already been a long slog, and our merchants, restaurants, galleries and nonprofit organizations in the downtown area are still feeling the adverse impact.
We are grateful to city officials for agreeing to do everything possible to avoid construction impacts on the business community in the fourth quarter of 2023, and to avoid all but emergency work during the Thanksgiving and Holiday weeks. The city's assurance of relief for Q4 is welcome news. Anthony Meier Gallery in Mill Valley recently wrapped its showcase of a group of international artists who all, for one reason or another, chose to live in Marin County between the ’40s and the ’70s.
