Mooney Announces $1,863,000 Grant For The Adrian Public Service District In Upshur County

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney announced a $1,863,000 grant for the Adrian Public Service District in Upshur County. The funding is distributed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

This USDA Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grant will be used to provide 10 waterline extensions. These extensions will reach 166 potential new customers located in currently unserved areas of the public service district and Randolph County. The project will also include several upgrades to the existing distribution system. Two new water booster pump stations and two new water storage tanks will extend water service to the community of Pickens and Metzner Hollow Road. All the other proposed new service areas within the existing district boundary can be served by gravity flow from existing tanks.

“I am pleased to see that Upshur County has received this USDA grant to support waterline extension and upgrades in the Adrian Public Service District,” said Congressman Alex Mooney (WV-02). “This investment is vital to the competitive future of Upshur County. Solid investments in local communities are critical to the growth of business and commerce.”

USDA Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants provide funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas. This program helps very small, financially distressed rural communities extend and improve water and waste treatment facilities that serve local households and businesses. Good practices can save tax dollars, improve the natural environment, and help manufacturers and businesses to locate or expand operations.
