PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 6, 2024) –The National Constitution Center (NCC) announced today that Julie Silverbrook will join the Center as its newly appointed vice president of civic education.

“The NCC team and I are excited to welcome Julie Silverbrook as our vice president of civic education,” said NCC President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen. “I’ve long admired Julie as one of America’s leading civic educators and it’s wonderful that she will be working with us to bring our Constitution 101 core curriculum to learners across America.”

“I’m thrilled to join the National Constitution Center, a beloved and essential institution, especially for my hometown of Philadelphia,” said Silverbrook. “The NCC’s work to promote knowledge of and commitment to our constitutional principles is critical at this moment in our nation’s history as we approach a presidential election this fall and America’s semiquincentennial in 2026. The Center will play a central role in celebrating America’s 250th and will use that milestone as a catalyst to transform constitutional knowledge and civil discourse both inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to helping lead the team that will expand and deepen the Center’s work in the educational space.”

In her role, which she will assume mid-February, Silverbrook will oversee the NCC’s national civic education external relations and national distribution efforts for the Center’s landmark Constitution 101 curriculum in high schools as well as its upcoming middle school version. She will also oversee the development of educational programming and the growth and cultivation of the NCC’s teacher network, including the Center’s Summer Teacher Institutes, the Constitutional Fellows program, Teacher Advisory Board, and Teacher Advisory Council.

Silverbrook most recently served as senior director of partnerships and constitutional scholar in residence at iCivics, the nonpartisan civic education nonprofit founded by the late Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. From 2012-2020, she ran the Constitutional Sources Project (ConSource) in Washington, D.C., as its executive director.

Silverbrook received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from The George Washington University and law degree from William & Mary School of Law.
