Staff Updates

Marc Willis  Chief Program and Strategy Officer
It is with some sadness and immense gratitude for his extended time with New Ballet that we celebrate Marc Willis. He will transition from New Ballet to working in tandem with his family on a new and exciting project. Marc has left an indelible impact during his four years with New Ballet, as he led the programs team, managed operations and successfully brought back in-person instruction to the studio in the fall of 2020 – something that he and all of us are truly proud of. Grateful for Marc's intentional mentoring, compassion, and uplifting spirit, we take comfort in his assurance that he will always be invested in our success from his seat in the audience! Please join us in thanking Marc for all he has done for this organization. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

Daya Hampton-Cox Director of Program Implementation
Having served as Pathways Program Liaison this past season, Daya Hampton-Cox has been promoted to Director of Program Implementation. She will now oversee all instructional and creative leadership of the Pathways Program as well as additional classes in satellite locations at independent schools. Daya will be the outward face of Pathways, enriching New Ballet’s vision for free dance education in public schools. In addition to her past work with New Ballet in the dawn of our public school instruction in 2002, Daya has taught dance in New York City Public Schools, earned her master's in education and recently completed a fellowship with LUNA Dance Institute in Berkeley, California. Through New Ballet’s professional development program, she will continue her teacher training at the Dance Education Laboratory in New York City.

Maxx Reed NutRemix Creative Director, Artist in Residence
Fresh off his performance in Broadway’s Beetlejuice, New Ballet alumnus, Maxx Reed, is returning to the studio this fall as the Creative Director for NutRemix™ and New Ballet’s Artist In Residence. Maxx, who was part of the original NutRemix cast in 2002 at age 14, will guide this year’s production, implementing new and exciting elements while leading dancers. As Artist in Residence, he will train all hip-hop artists to teach in our Cooper-Young studios and Pathways programs. Additionally, Maxx will develop a new NBE school production to tour Memphis Shelby County Schools in 2024. This month, Maxx will teach abroad with arts education nonprofit Broadway Dreams before returning to New Ballet to begin his residency for the entire season.
