Fall 2022 Programs, Activities, & Registration
Classes begin Wednesday, August 31
Fall programs at the Y offer opportunities for all ages and interests to come together and become happier and healthier at the Y! Programs range in length with some offering multiple throughout the fall.
Youth & Teen Programs:
Choose from a wide range of all designed for kids and teens to have fun while developing skills, character, and confidence.
Adult & Senior Programs:
Strengthen your Y experience through personal and small-group training programs available for all ages, abilities, and goals.

Summer Facility Maintenance Updates
New Canaan YMCA Facility Closed: 8/24-8/26
We will be closed Wednesday, 8/24 - Friday, 8/26 in order to complete some larger maintenance and cleaning projects throughout the facility.
A few of these projects include deep cleaning of showers, painting throughout the facility, and repairs to our parking lot, in addition to the below annual maintenance to specific areas.
Please note: the Front Desk will remain open from 9:00am-5:00am during this time for membership and fall registration.
Forese Family Pools (Scooter & Lap)
Closed 8/20-8/28
The Forese Family Pools will be closed for annual maintenance, draining, and cleaning. The Valles Pool will remain open during this time with exception of 8/24-8/26 when the facility is closed.
Group Exercise Center
Closed 8/22-8/26
The Group Exercise Center will be closed for floor refinishing. View our group exercise schedules to for classes running in our Cycling Center, Mind Body Center, Wagner Room, and Zone.

Exercise for Parkinson's
Now Offered Twice a Week!
Exercise for Parkinson's guides participants through cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, balance, and vocalization activities design to help those with Parkinson's manage daily challenges, improve quality of life, regain mobility, and maintain independence.
Studies show that regular exercise can slow disease progression, boost mood, build independence, and improve strength, mobility, gait, and balance for those living with Parkinson's Disease.
Exercise for Parkinson's
Dates: September 6-October 14 (6-week session)
Days: Tuesday & Friday
Time: 12:00-1:00 PM
Fees: $120/member, $192/non-member
Please note: medical clearance is required to participate.

Helping Kids Get Back-to-School
School Supply Drive to Benefit DVCC of Norwalk
The Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) of Norwalk currently houses 235 children. Support DVCC families by donating new, much-needed school supplies!
Accepting Donations Until September 2
Any school supplies are greatly appreciated; however, DVCC is in particular need of:
- Any size 3-ring binders
- Composition notebooks
- Pencil sharpeners
- Erasers
- Magic markers
- Highlighters
- Crayons
Please donate school supplies in the box located in the Ys lobby until Friday, September 2.

LemonAid Stand Fundraiser for
Facing the Future Education Center (FAFU)
Put your child's compassion into action by hosting a LemonAid stand for the vulnerable children of FAFU!
Since 2007, the New Canaan Y has proudly partnered with FAFU, a preschool through grade 8 child development center in Kibera, Kenya - Africa's largest slum. FAFU is a life-saving oasis so vital to the lives of 380 children.
We provide the supplies now-Labor Day, so hosting a LemonAid stand is easy! For your starter kit, simply contact Diana Riolo at 203-920-1653 or by email.

Get F.I.T. at the Y
Extended Summer Hours for F.I.T. Pass Holders!
Now through Labor Day, F.I.T. pass holders can use the Wellness Center between 11:00 AM-5:00 PM or at any time with a parent.
As a reminder, F.I.T. pass privileges do not include use of the Zone.
COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
Hosted by Griffin Health & the New Canaan YMCA

(Walk-in, no appointment needed)
Location: New Canaan YMCA
Vaccines will be administered by Griffin Health and will include doses for all ages (6 months and older) from all vaccine manufacturers
Please bring a health insurance card, your vaccination card, and photo ID if you have them, but it is not necessary to have health insurance, a vaccination card, or an ID to receive the vaccine.
No one will be turned away for lack of insurance, vaccination card, or ID.

Lost and Found
If you LOST it, we may have FOUND it!
If you are missing any items that you think you could have misplaced while at the Y, please take a look in our Lost & Found cabinet. The cabinet is located in the Wet Hallway (on the way to the pools) at the Y. Items found include various articles of clothing, water bottles, and goggles. Please note that unclaimed items are donated to charity at the end of the month.
