What's Happening at the Y

Reclaim the Ride Spinathon

Benefitting the New Canaan LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program

Join us this Saturday, October 21 at 11AM for a very special, extra fun spin class!

We will be riding in support of the New Canaan LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program and to celebrate 10 years of serving our community's cancer survivors!

The Ride

An hour-long, high-energy spin party in support of our community's most inspiring warriors led by Y instructors Tetiana, Mariella, & Orlyna!

All fitness levels and experiences welcome!

The Inspiration

Ride for yourself, ride for a loved one, or ride for the 150+ cancer survivors in our community who have become stronger through this free, life-changing program!

The Goal

$25 registration fee; additional fundraising optional.

(Fundraise on your own or we'll help you create an easy-to-use fundraising page!)

All proceeds will benefit the New Canaan Livestrong at the YMCA program!

This special event is in partnership with the Darien YMCA who will be hosting a simultaneous ride for their own community Livestrong programs!

Pilates Barre combines basic foundations of Pilates are taught with traditional ballet-inspired moves for a total body workout.

Let's Brighten a Child's Holiday

"Sorry" Game Collection for Filling in the Blanks

Now-Friday, October 27

Please support the efforts of New Canaan's National Charity League volunteers, Tamara & Teddy Smedley, to collect 3,000 games of "Sorry" to help fill holiday backpacks for Filling in the Blanks (FITB).

FITB provides weekend meals to children in need and currently supports 5,500+ students at over 200 locations across 11 Connecticut and New York towns. Every year, FITB delivers new, gift-filled backpacks to the children in their program. The children then use the backpack year-round to transport their weekend meal bags home.

Growing Stronger Together

Prenatal and Baby & Me Yoga Classes

Prenatal Yoga and Baby & Me Yoga are currently running, spots are still available!

Prenatal Yoga: For all stages of pregnancy. This class will help you connect with your changing body and baby during pregnancy. It offers yoga postures, breath work, relaxation techniques, and meditation that are specifically geared toward pregnancy and will help you release tension and fatigue. No previous yoga experience necessary.

Dates: Sundays, through December 10 at 10:00 AM & Wednesdays, October 11-December 13 at 6:15 PM

Fees: $15/member, $30/non-member (register by week)

Baby & Me Yoga: For parent/care-giver & babies, ages 4 weeks-precrawling. You and baby will practice yoga together! You will play, move, and explore. You also will restore and rejuvenate through stretching and strengthening poses. This class is a great opportunity to bond with your baby and to connect with new friends. This is a breastfeeding/feeding safe environment.

Dates: Fridays, October 13-December 15 at 10:00 AM

Fees: $15/member, $30/non-member (register by week)

Through Your Looking Glass

Student Social Justice Art Showcase by Stand Together Against Racism (S.T.A.R.)

We're excited to share that the Y has been offered a dedicated corner at the "Through Your Looking Glass" Student Social Justice Art Showcase taking place next month!

Students in all grades, including college, from all towns in Fairfield County, are invited to create and submit art that reflects the social justice topics that matter most to them today!

- Art can include any medium from paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, videos/film (including TikTok!), or architectural renderings

- Any social justice topic

- Must write the story behind your art's social justice meaning

- Individual or group projects welcome

All art will be featured at an in-person showcase celebration at the Carriage Barn Arts Center (this is not a competition)

Calling All Middle Schoolers!

Fall Programs & Activities for Grades 5-8

Middle School Night (Grades 5-8)

Saturday, November 4; 6:30-9:00 PM

One Saturday a month middle schoolers get the Y all to themselves! Have fun in the Wellness Center, Group Ex Center, Basketball Gym, Valles Pool, and Wagner Room. Not only will there be plenty of fun games and activities, but also a concession stand with snacks, drinks, and pizza.

Saturdays: 2:00-2:45 PM, 2:45-3:30 PM

Please note: For the safety of all, Open Gym is limited to 12 children on a first come, first-served basis. Parents are required stay and supervise play.

Free with a New Canaan YMCA Family Membership or when enrolled in a Bouncing Bears gymnastics class; $20 for all others.*

*Non-members and local Y reciprocity members may not register for Open Gym unless they purchase a day pass in addition to paying admission.

Kids Club drop-in babysitting is available for Y members while they use our facility. Children must be 6 months or older and able to sit independently.

Fees:

Kids Club is free for those with a current Family Membership and $15.00/90 minutes for all other members.
