What's New at the Y

Hunger Action Month
Support the Fight to Stop Hunger

In awareness of September's Hunger Action Month, please join us in supporting the New Canaan Food Pantry's fight to stop hunger in our community!

Please consider donating non-perishable food items or items recommended below. All donations are greatly appreciated!

ACCEPTING DONATIONS NOW - SEPTEMBER 30

-Boxed oatmeal
-Boxed non-refrigerated milk
-Cereal
-Apple juice
-Canned fruit
-Mayo
-Salt
-Pepper
-Oil
-Salad dressing
-Crackers/saltines
-Boxed cake mix
-Kid snacks
-Breakfast-to-go snacks (small boxed/cup cereals, granola bars, trail mix, etc.)

Please drop off food donations in the box located in the Y's lobby.

Fall 2022 Youth Sports & Recreation Programs

Register for the following youth sports & recreation programs beginning the week of September 26:

Youth Sports:

Learn to Dive at the Y
Whirlwind Diving Bronze Level (Ages 9 & Under)

Registration for our beginner-level diving program is currently available!

Whether your child wants to learn how to dive to join their summer program next year, or loves the water and wants an activity to learn body awareness in a fun atmosphere, this program is for you!

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday

Time: 4:30-5:15 PM

Youth @ the Y & Middle School Night
Kick Off Your School Year at our September Events!

Youth @ the Y (Grades 1-4)
Saturday, September 17 • 6:30-9:00 PM

Elementary schoolers will be divided into groups and led by Y staff to various stations around the Y where events will be run by specialist staff. Activities include use of the Forese Family Pool, Group Exercise Center, Wagner Room, Gymnasium, and Kid Zone.

Advance registration is mandatory and available online or at the Front Desk. $30/Members & $40/Non-Members.

Middle School Night (Grades 5-8)
Saturday, September 24 • 7:00-9:30 PM

One Saturday each month, middle schoolers get the Y all to themselves, with access to the Wellness Center, Group Exercise Center, Basketball in the Gymnasium, Forese Pool, and Wagner Room. Not only will there be plenty of fun games and activities but also a concession stand with snacks, drinks, and pizza!

Advance registration is available online or at the Front Desk. $15/Members, $25 Non-Members, & $30/All at Door.

Lost and Found
If you LOST it, we may have FOUND it!

If you are missing any items that you think you could have misplaced while at the Y, please take a look in our Lost & Found cabinet. The cabinet is located in the Wet Hallway (on the way to the pools) at the Y. Items found include various articles of clothing, water bottles, and goggles. Please note that unclaimed items are donated to charity at the end of the month.

My Playroom Attendant (Part-Time)

Do you love kids? Have available time in the mornings, 2 or 3 days a week? We are looking for caring staff to provide a safe environment for play, games, and arts and crafts for our drop-in babysitting program available to our members while they use our facility.

Early Morning Lifeguards (Part-Time)

Calling all early birds! If you are a Rise-and-Shine morning person, the New Canaan YMCA may be the right fit for you! Flexible hours & a great part-time opportunity for students, retirees, or anyone wanting to stay actively employed while still having a large portion of their day free for other interests.
